Energy Efficiency
We build beautiful, energy efficient homes.
The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index
HERS is the industry standard for measuring a home's energy efficiency. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.
Typical Rating for a North Hill Home
Below is an actual HERS report from one of our recent homes. What is this report and why is it important? The HERS report is an independent inspection that can be done on a residential home to determine it’s energy efficiency. The lower the score, the more efficient the home. Let’s look at some benefits of having an efficient home:
Lower Monthly Bills - As you can see from the example below, this house should on average cost you $975 per year to run. Compare that with a “normal” home’s average annual cost of $2,263.
Higher Resale Value - New home buyers are demanding and expecting higher efficiency ratings. All North Hill Homes are built in such a manner to future proof the value of your home should you ever wish to sell.
Better for The Environment - You can think of monthly costs as how large your carbon footprint is, the lower, the less reliant your household is on traditional carbon energies. At North Hill we believe in doing our part to reduce wasteful practices in our industry but also by providing homeowners with more efficient homes so they can do their part to reduce harmful energy waste.
Live Better
In addition to saving money on your monthly utility bills, you are helping to reduce the carbon footprint with an energy efficient North Hill home.
